I have been practising and studying yoga, mediation, dance, tantra and taoist practices for the last 10 years and I have trained under certified teachers from all over the world.
Through my dance, modelling, and acting background, yoga came into my life first, while I was touring around in Holland in a play from Shakespeare.
Every evening we did a yoga warm-up to get ready for the play.
It was the perfect way to get ready for the play. Practising yoga was a way to centre my body and my mind from the mental stress and aches in my muscles and I soon started to feel and access different layers of my body and my personality.
Through yoga I realised that it was not all about being the most beautiful, the best, the most perfect, the prettiest model, the fantastic actress or the most flexible yogi in the world. I had to learn to go inside and not focus on the outside so much. I had to learn to let go, to surrender, to trust, to be compassionate and to be patient. This was a long and difficult process, but I have found a way back to my true self through strong commitment to the Yogic practices and teachings.
I decided to leave my model and acting career behind and dedicated my life to the practice of yoga.
I decided l wanted to become a teacher and tried out all the different yoga styles that are on the market today. I lived in a Ashram for some time and immersed myself into the subject of yoga, tantra, taoism and mediation. Ultimately, l came to Iyengar yoga and decided that this method is the safest and most beneficial method for me. I met my first Iyengar teacher, Charles De Hond in Rotterdam and he immediately caught my attention by pointing out different parts of my body that l was over working and parts in my body which where under working. I was fascinated and trained with him to become a teacher.
I am forever grateful for his teachings and his blessing to start the Iyengar Teacher training in the UK and l am proud to say that l am now a qualified Iyengar Teacher.
I hold a intermediate level 1 certificate awarded by the Iyengar Yoga Association (UK). I carry on studying and training to keep up my certification and insurance. It is a delight to be able to use the registered trade mark of BKS Iyengar. To learn more about Iyengar yoga certification please follow the link to the Iyengar Yoga Association
A fascination with body alignment has led me to a continuous study of the Iyengar method, and I am now passionately following the Intermediate level of the Iyengar Teacher Training with my teacher in London.
I have recently finished a Sacred Femininity Teacher training in Thailand and l am now also offering women’s circle’s, shakti workshops, tantra and taoist practices for women.
